NBA: #1 New Orleans Hornets (55-23) at #3 L.A. Lakers (53-25)

Friday Apr 11th, 10:30 pm ET, NBALP

Richard (2-2)

The MVP race between Bryant and Paul may come down to the team that finishes first in the Western Conference. Of course, if the Spurs take it things won’t be that simple (the last time the MVP came from a team that didn’t win its conference or division was Michael Jordan in 1988 which might eliminate Chris Paul from contention). In any case, the Lakers host the Western Conference leading Hornets tomorrow night. The Lakers’ injury list this season looks like it’s straight out of the NFL (Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Radmanovic, Ariza, Fisher, Walton) and they’re still only 2 games out of 1st! Kobe loves the stage and always elevates his game against great competition. With the frontcourt once again fleshing out (Odom, Gasol) and Bryant’s game-breaking ability the Lakers are poised to gain a game against New Orleans.
Rob (2-2)

Critics and fans alike have been waiting for the Hornets to drop off and come back to reality, but everyone just has to realize that it's not going to happen. The Hornets are #1 in the West, and will remain that way going into the playoffs. Chris Paul is too much for any of the Lakers' guards to handle, and he will show the world Friday night that he deserves the regular season MVP award, not Kobe. Furthermore, David West is proving his All-Star worth, Chandler is making a case for defensive player of the year, and Bonzi is providing great spark off the bench. The Lakers just lost in Portland and now have back-to- back games, the first against the Clippers (I know what you are thinking, but Elton Brand is back and they are relishing the spoiler role), and the next against the Hornets. Look for the Hornets to blow out the Lakers late, wtih huge shots from CP3 and Peja Stojakovic.
My Pick: Lakers 103 - Hornets 101 My Pick: Hornets 105 - Lakers 93

Sidney Crosby
CrosbyC | Pittsburgh Penguins | Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia | Height: 5-11 | Weight: 200 lbs

If the NHL is going to make a comeback in the eyes of American sports viewers, it's going to have to be because of the amazing play of Sidney Crosby, the Center Forward of the PIttsburgh Penguins. Sidney has been compared to the great one, Wayne Gretzky, and has done his part to live up to the hype in leading the Penguins back to the elite of the NHL. Last season, Crosby took home the Hart Trophy as the league's most valuable player, along with the Art Ross Trophy for being the league's scoring leader. This season, Crosby has led his Penguins into postseason play through his 24 goals and 48 assists, battling through an ankle injury for most of the season. It is in the postseason where legends are born, and the NHL is hoping that Crosby can live up to his potential in the postseason and put hockey back on the map in the United States. The Penguins won the first game against the Ottawa Senators 4 - 0, and look to continue their dominance tomorrow. Catch Crosby and the Penguins against the Senators this Friday on Jacked.com

NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves (19-59) at Memphis Grizzlies (21-57)
Saturday Apr 12th, 8:00 pm ET, NBALP

Al Jefferson;Rudy GayWhen browsing through the NBA games for the next few days one might be getting excited for match-ups between Lakers and Hornets or Nuggets and Warriors, but not me. I myself am excited about the Timberwolves versus Grizzlies game. I mean who doesn’t like to watch the 27th and 28th best in the entire NBA go head to head?

In all seriousness, there is a possibility for this to be a good game because the fact that they are so close in ranking might just make it interesting. On the other hand, they are two of the lowest ranked teams in the entire NBA.

The Grizzlies have lost 65 percent of their last 20 games and the only team ranked lower than them in their conference (besides Seattle) is their competition from Minnesota who themselves are on a six game losing streak with no light at the end of the tunnel.

If you took both teams’ wins and combined them they would still be seven games away from tying with the 8th place team and making it to the playoffs.

Game or lame? You be the judge.
