STARTUP BEAT | September 6, 2007
Santa Monica-based Jacked, an online publishing platform designed to operate simultaneously with TV programming, has closed a $6.5 million initial round of funding from Provenance Ventures, Core Capital Partners and Gabriel Venture Partners. The company also inked a deal with NBC to power NBCSports.com Play Action, which is an online in-game application that will accompany the network’s broadcasts of the 2007 Notre Dame football season.
The company was founded by former American Greetings Mobile chief Bryan Biniak. Its platform is a mixture of online applications with a library of information, media, game, commerce and advertising spots, which allows users to interact with shows through information like statistics, photos, player information, play-by-play, chat and news.
